OOPS! A buying mistake
Q. What a fun hobby these pins are going to be!  I have 17 of them made already.  Like you, I can get "lost" in puttng them together too.  I don't have the eye you have for using parts of the vintage jewelry, but hopefully I will get better.  I've bought some pieces I can't use----beginner, right?

A. Buying pieces you find you can't use is certainly a right of passage for a new angel maker. Even my classes at the college go through the same thing. And every now and again I will think something will be just right and then I will put it up to the piece I was making and say "What was I thinking?" Don't get rid of it. Sometime in the future you may find something that would really benefit from it. Keep up the good work.

Looking for angel wings and halos

Q.  I looked on the supply web-sites you mention in your book, but couldn't find the wings and halos. I am not very proficient with a computer. Could you tell me where they are? I don't have much confidence in finding enough brooches to make the wings. And I like the ones you use.

A.  Wings are the most challenging part of angel making. On the sites I reference in my book - try butterflies. Some of my best wings are butterflies. Halos aren't called halos. They can be large jump rings or go-go rounds. Look under filigree and take your time going through the pages. Ask them to send you a paper copy of their catalog. It might be easier for you.

Trouble finding wings
Kathy, you have really hit on the most difficult part of making angels. But don't fear I have a few suggestions. How about using a set of earrings that flair and give the impression of wings? If I can't find what I need I use wire. You can bend wire into the most dramatic wings imagineable. Try appliques. Butterfly wings work just great.

Trouble with the glue?
Sharon asks:

My angels seem to be falling apart. The E6000 seems to work in a few hours. But when I were them the next day they come aprart.

The Angel Lady says:

E6000 works great but you must let the glue cure longer than you have been. Let the angel rest undisturbed for a few days. A secure bond is the secret to durability for your angels.
